Panasonic HC-X1 Tutorial: Turning On 4K Time Lapse

Interval Recording With The HCX1

Awesome Time Lapse Videos

A lot of owners of the Panasonic HC-X1 owners don't know, or even think, that the camera could or would have a time lapse function. However, not only does the camera have this setting in the menus, but it does a phenomenal job outputting 4k time lapse videos. The video shows you how to turn it on and shows some of the cool lapses I've gotten with this camera.

As you can see, the camera does a fabulous job on time lapse videos, especially at night. And although using a DSLR and an intervalometer may give you a better more customizable time lapse, there is nothing quite like getting an awesome video in 4 minutes with no post production.

The camera takes a bunch of photos, but outputs a final video instead of pictures, so you don't have to do anything after you stop recording.

To activate the setting you just go to RECORD OPTIONS and turn on INTERVAL RECORDING. One of the negative things about this camera is you can't select 2 or 3 seconds. Only 1 or 10. And in most cases, you are going to use 1.

We won't discuss all the settings you want to use in this post, we have a whole bunch of time lapse content upcoming. But after you get your interval of 1 seconds, it is going to be 2 minutes of real time to get 5 seconds of video footage. Use a tripod. Use a slow shutter speed of like 1/3 if you can.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments. In the mean time I'm working on the more in depth instructions for running a time lapse.
