Great Falls National Park

Great Falls National Park MD & VA

Shot With A Panasonic HC-X1

Great Falls National Park straddles the Potomac River in Virginia and Maryland. From the parking lot in MD you have easy access to the trail that takes you through some of the falls and to the overlook of the main great falls of the Potomac. I pulled out the camera after a rainy week and checked out this cool park just outside of DC (video above).

The park actually costs $10 for a vehicle to enter, which is good for 3 days. I went over to the Maryland side where the visitor's center is, and walked around to get footage of the scenic views. (This old Washington Post article gives you an idea about the Virginia vs Maryland sides)

Camera Stuff: The rapids and waterfalls look really cool in 120fps super slow motion. While it is 1080 instead of 4k, I think it definitely made for a better video.

A beautiful warm day in February was the perfect time to visit. The crowds were small and it made for a more relaxing journey. If you've never been, this is a really neat place to visit and you would never guess it was so close to DC.

There are also lots of other cool things to do in terms of hiking and biking at Great Falls including the famous Billy Goat Trail, which I will cover in a future blog.
